Meanwhile, in real news, somewhere in Canada a police department has approved a design for a hijab headdress for Muslim officers, according to the Edmonton Police press release. The hijab design snugly covers the head and neck, but not the face.

The Edmonton Police Service has not had any applicants requesting to wear a hijab but they wanted to be proactive and “reflect the changing diversity in the community, and to facilitate the growing interest in policing careers from Edmonton’s Muslim community,” as stated in the release.

I have spent twenty three winters too many in my beloved hometown of Edmonton. Yesterday, my friends and family earned Facebook bragging rights for having survived bone chilling temps of -43 °C/-45 °F with windchill. Brrrr. All I can say is, I hope non Muslim officers can also apply for this cozy looking headdress as apart from religious obligation I can see at least one other benefit.
